The final years of the 19th Century marked the end of America’s westward expansion. The Wild West had not yet been completely tamed, but it was well on its way. Trains and banks were still being robbed, but the bandits were coming under increasing pressure from organized law enforcement. The West was quickly becoming as "civilized" as the East. This over 100 year old work was made using the wax-engraving map printing process pioneered by Rand McNally. This process created high-quality, low-cost maps and made the company the leading creator of maps in the United States (a position they enjoy to this day).
