Included in this map: Topography and bathymetry (topography of the ocean floor) in brilliant color and unparalleled detail and also includes international borders and a 30° latitude/longitude grid.

Level of Detail: Tens of thousands of the earth's physical features can be clearly identified, from Arizona's Grand Canyon to the relatively tiny Ayer's Rock in Australia and everything in-between. On close examination it can be seen that the ocean is often darkest in shallower water, for example on continental shelves. This is due to the greater light absorption in those areas. (Some of these features can only be discerned in larger sized prints).

Sources of Imagery: This image of earth is a cloud-free true-color mosaic of satellite images. The land imagery was created from NASA's Moderate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data collected in August 2004, published by NASA's Earth Observatory. Polar sea ice is based on a combination of sources including MODIS data.
